As many return to work throughout the upcoming Autumn, many vestiges of commuting will again emerge in the next months; one of these vestiges is the reusable bottles.
In choosing a bottle, various characteristics must be considered, such as size, price, quality, and effectiveness of the insulation; though most of these factors are easily ascertained before purchase, objective performance is difficult to compare. In order to analyze key performance aspects of performance as would be seen in real world conditions.
In determining these realistic conditions, three tests were conducted with two sets of six bottles; a Zojirushi Stainless steel mug, Yeti Tumbler, Yeti Rambler insulated bottle, Polar water bottle, Snowpeak 500 Mililitre water bottle and screwing cap, and Snowpeak 250 Mililitre water bottle.
The tests involved measuring the ability of the water bottles to retain water temperatures for twelve hours. One test was conducted with 50-55 degree ice water, another with 210 degree water from a water boiler; all temperatures were confirmed with a separate kitchen grade thermometer.
